Cycling holiday in Orford Suffolk

Consider a cycling holiday, where you can stay in luxury at Keep Cottage a self catering holiday home in Orford Suffolk… a perfect UK cycling holiday destination.

A cycling holiday in Suffolk is excellent whether you are a seasoned cyclist or simply enjoy seeing the countryside at a different pace.

The roads around Orford are perfect for getting on your bike, we have the benefit of quiet country roads or off-roading through the forests. The Quay is a regular meeting point for cyclists who enjoy a well deserved coffee.

Leave Keep Cottage, and cycle left, through the village square and as you leave the village take the turning on the right before the garage. Heading towards Iken on Ferry Road where the road gently undulates, with minimum traffic. You will see plenty of pigs by High House Farm Road, they will happily grunt at you as you cycle by. Take the left onto Tunstall Road, where there is a great place to stop for a bun after the Iken Riding Stables. The view over the river Alde is mesmerising, it’s very special early in the morning.

At the end of Tunstall Road turn left on to the B1069 it’s easy from here keep going straight and you will come back to the village. This route is about 11 miles in total. Reward yourself with a coffee and a cake at the Pump Street Bakery as you will deserve it.

You will be in good company as cycling is incredibly popular in our area, and you may be able to join one of the organised routes.

Bring your bikes, you can safely keep your bikes in the garage.  Or by arrangement we have two hybrid bikes – a ladies and a children’s for you to use. As cyclists we know the little things that count, great routes, safe storage and a cleaning facility – we have all three ticked off the list.

We have a number of suggested cycle routes, from shorter routes through to a good 50/60 or even 100 miler, with great points of interest, so you can have a different route every day.

If off road biking is your thing, we have plenty of tracks and trails in the Rendlesham Forest and Tunstall Forest (including a bike park for the brave ones among us).

We have maps and guides in the cottage if you want to explore a little further.

If you don’t bring your bike on your holiday, or if prefer to hire one, not to worry you can hire one from http://www.suffolkcyclehire.co.uk/ including electric bikes.
